Approach

What can and
should we show?

During the ideation process, UX designers worked collaboratively with information architects to unpick the available data that could be displayed to users. Such data included road incidents, traffic cameras, and road works. A respective text/visual syntax was introduced to help simplify the information being used with users.

Prototypes were shared with users incrementally throughout the development to gage usability issues and ensure tasks could be completed easily.

Considerations

Designing with maps

Design solutions were developed to accommodate a dynamically updating geographic map - which included a side draw and solutions for markers clustering which were dependent on the number of incidents occurring in a specific geographic area.
